Back to topWhat Is MCP
Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI models communicate with external tools and services in a structured way. Instead of an AI generating text that a human then copies into a tool, MCP lets the AI call the tool directly: read data, trigger actions, get results back.
The protocol defines:
- Tools - actions the AI can invoke (start a test, fetch results, get report data).
- Resources - data the AI can read (test configurations, historical results, project list).
- Prompts - templated workflows the AI can follow for common tasks.
