BlazeMeter Publishes Mobile App Performance Testing Chapter in “The Digital Quality Handbook”
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., July 18, 2017 CA BlazeMeter, the leader in open source-based continuous performance testing, has published a chapter about mobile app load testing, in “The Digital Quality Handbook”, a book for DevOps about digital quality and testing.
The chapter, named “Keep it Going ‘On the Go’ - Integrating Mobile App Performance Testing into the Continuous Integration Cycle” explains how to implement performance testing for mobile apps. In addition to a step-by-step guide of load testing with open-source tools JMeter, Jenkins and Taurus, as well as BlazeMeter; the chapter uses real-life statistics to show the growing usage of mobile apps, explains the terms “performance testing” and “continuous testing” and demonstrates the value of mobile app testing test through Upic Solutions’ story.
The complete handbook covers a wide variety of interesting and useful topics for developers. These include SDLC and processes maturity, expanding test coverage, open source tools and frameworks, mobile test labs, quality insights and cross-platform and cross-feature test suites.
“Mobile apps have become an inseparable part of any product, often exceeding website traffic. Performance testing these apps year-round, but especially before large events like Black Friday, has become a must,” says Noga Cohen, Sr. Product Marketing Manager at BlazeMeter and Co-author of the chapter. “So we’re happy to contribute technological information and best practices for load testing that any company can use, to improve their development cycle.”
“The smartphone culture has opened opportunities for mobile app operators to provide services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It’s an opportunity they shouldn’t miss out on. In fact, they should optimize it with continuous testing,” says Jacob Sharir, BlazeMeter’s Head of Professional Services. “I often work with these companies on creating and running their load tests in the cloud, and it's always fascinating. I’m glad I also had the chance to share the knowledge I learned.”
“Every software team out there is striving to mature their agile practices toward DevOps. Making progress is hard without access to proven strategies. This is the challenge that inspired industry experts to join forces and create The Digital Quality Handbook,” said Eran Kinsbruner, Technical Evangelist at Perfecto and Author of The Digital Quality Handbook. “I am convinced a Continuous Testing strategy is a critical enabler, so I’m thrilled that BlazeMeter’s experts were able to take a deeper dive into performance and load testing, sharing insights into the most effective strategies for app and website development that boost performance and quality, and speed up release cycles.”
